COVID-19

01/04/2022 – COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to the recent decision from the provincial government, we will be closed to all IN OFFICE visits until further notice.  We will be watching the changes and recommendations as they become available and will update our status once anything changes.  Go to meetings, phone meetings, drop offs and pick ups will still be offered.

12/22/2020 – COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to the recent decision from the provincial government, we will be closed to all IN OFFICE visits until January 28th, 2021.  Go to meetings and phone meetings will still be available in the new year.  The office will be closed for it’s regular Christmas bread from 12pm on December 24th until January 4th at 9am.

07/27/2020 – COVID-19 UPDATE

Since March 16th, we have remained locked down to the public to help keep our clients and staff safe from COVID-19. We continued this way until the State of Emergency was lifted in Ontario; as of July 24th this has ended. Moving forward, we will continue to have our doors locked to foot traffic but will continue to offer telephone or zoom/go-to meetings as the preferred option. In person meetings may be offered on an “as needed” basis.

The following protocols will need to be followed if you are coming in for a face-to-face meeting:

We ask that any client experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 infection contact the office and reschedule their appointment for a minimum of 14 days later and contact telehealth or their primary care physician.

We ask that any client that has travelled outside Canada, please call to reschedule their appointments for a minimum of 14 days later.

  • Please arrive on time for your meeting;
  • Only those required to be at the meeting should be in attendance;
  • You must wear a mask. If you do not have one, one will be provided for you;
  • Upon entering the office, you will be asked to sanitize your hands and stand in the assigned waiting spot;
  • Once the staff member is ready, you will be escorted to the first office on the left (the office has been sanitized prior to your arrival);
  • Do not bring any food or beverages into the office;
  • Unfortunately there will be no access to the restroom facilities during your visit.

Thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to being of continued service to you.

04/05/2020 – COVID-19 UPDATE

We are continuing to monitor all updates with federal and provicial governments as well as the recommendations from the Canadian Public Health.  Our office remains closed to visitors until further notice.

03/16/2020 – COVID-19 UPDATE

In light of the novel virus COVID-19 and the recommendations from Canadian Public Health officials, we feel it necessary at this time to limit one on one access to the office until April 5th. All appointments, unless regarded as absolutely necessary, will be suspended until that time.

UNPLANNED VISITORS – If you have not informed us of your visit, we will ask that you knock and someone will assist you further, but we urge you call prior to arriving.

If you have documents to drop off to us, please make sure you have your documents in an envelope (or put in one we have made available outside our door) and drop into our mail slot/dropbox to the right of the door.  If you would like to digitally supply us with your documents, please call the office for options.

If you have already submitted your information, we will be in contact with you on what is the best method of data/document transfer will be.

We thank you for your patience and know that we are working just as hard as ever to make sure you get the same quality of service as any other tax season. This protocol will hopefully allow us to continue to work during the entirety of our busy season.

03/13/2020 – Workplaces have a role to play in reducing the spread of infection and there are measures that can be taken by businesses to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

The Accountant’s office is generally not a high-traffic area, however, as it is personal tax season we have a steady revolving door. We are ensuring that our office is clean and hygienic and we promote thorough hand-washing and surface wipe downs every day.

We would like to remind you of a few options that we have available to make it more convenient for you to provide us with your information, while at the same time reducing the spread of germs:

  • Upload your documents electronically to our secure client portal (contact the office for instructions if you would like to use this option)
  • Don’t have a scanner?  Have a smartphone or tablet?  You can download the Adobe Scan App.  Easy to use and you can do it anywhere.
  • We can email the documents for you to sign or you can use Docusign which results in nothing to print or email, just a couple clicks and it is sent securely back to us – also great for the environment
  • For payment options we accept e-transfer to almonte@porterhetu.com

We want to make filing your income tax return as easy and convenient as it possibly can be for you, while providing options to you to help maintain our shared responsibility to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

If you are showing any symptoms of a flu or cold, we respectfully ask that you reschedule your appointment to a later date, if you do have an appointment booked in the upcoming weeks.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
